Traditional Japanese Reiki: Sensing Imbalances

ReikiA person practicing Reiki can learn how to sense imbalances by gliding the hands over the body.

You can learn to sense imbalances on the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels, then offer Reiki to restore the balance.

Method for Sensing Imbalances:



  • Center your mind and set your intent.

  • Move your hands approximately 2 - 6 inches over the subject. (The subject can be sitting, standing, or lying down.)

  • Wait. Wait without expectation for a sensation to occur in your hands. The sensation could be heat, tingling, cold, pain, itching, pulsating, or any other unusual sensation.

  • When you sense an imbalance, place your hands on that part of the body and remain in that position until the sensation ceases.

  • Give thanks.

Sensing imbalances becomes easier the more you practice. You can practice on yourself, friends, family and pets. Try it, you will be surprised at the energy you feel!
